Lyndsey Gillis is the varsity head coach and program director of Mercer Island Girls’ Lacrosse and the 2017 WSLA Coach of the Year. She also currently serves on the WSLA board and is the Program Director for Seattle Starz Girls Lacrosse Club. Prior to taking on the MI position, Gillis spent five seasons as the varsity head coach at Seattle Preparatory School and two seasons at Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, CT. A standout midfielder at Bowdoin College, Gillis was a member of three NCAA tournament teams and an Academic All-American. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Washington.

Helen Hansen is a Mercer Island, WA native and a 2016 graduate of The University of California Berkeley. During her time at CAL she was the Bear’s starting goalie and helped lead them to pivotal PAC12 conference wins. Since graduating Helen returned to Seattle and works as a Technical Recruiter/Account Manager supporting numerous enterprise companies. She has continued her passion for lacrosse by coaching various teams in the Seattle area and cannot wait to lead the 7/8th Grade GLAX squad!

Morgan is a Richmond, VA native and attended Trine University and Virginia Commonwealth University. During her time at Trine University she played attack and midfield on the lacrosse team. She also played defensive-mid and attack for the field hockey team, where she was a captain as a freshman, leading the team in goals. She has been coaching at the high school and club level since 2011 in Virginia, Oregon and Colorado before moving to Seattle in 2019.

Saffron is a Mercer Island native and started playing lacrosse in 6th grade as part of the first youth lacrosse program on Mercer Island! As varsity lacrosse captain, she graduated from Mercer Island High School in 2013. She continued her lacrosse career and attended the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina. As a 3rd year program, Mount Olive made their way to the Top 10 of Division II and won its first Conference Carolinas Championship her sophomore year. Saffron graduated from Mount Olive in 2017 having played all four years.

Danielle Morgan is a Washington native, and a 2017 graduate of Aurora University in Aurora, IL. During her time at AU, Danielle was a four-year starter, and captain her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also made MWLC 1st Team All-Conference for Defense and Midfield two years in a row. After receiving her B.A in Secondary Education with a focus on English Language Arts, Danielle was the assistant women’s lacrosse coach for Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She has returned to Seattle to focus on her passion for coaching, her teaching career, and growing the game of lacrosse in the PNW.

Amanda is a Flemington, NJ native and attended University of Richmond, VA on a full athletic scholarship for field hockey. During her time at UR she played attacked for her Division One team. Recently, this team was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame for outstanding record and team score. After graduating undergrad, she started to teach in the local Richmond area.

During her first years of teaching, she earned post graduate degree and developed a passion with working with youth. During her master work, she reconnected with an old college roommate, who played Lacrosse for the Spiders. She was looking for a coaching buddy, and Coach Flo was eager to get back into coaching. Together they coached both lacrosse and field hockey for multiple years at The Steward High School in Henrico, VA.

Her coaching is full of energy and love for the game. She inspires children to love playing lacrosse and being a part of a sports team. She looks forward to working with Mercer Island lacrosse community.

Off the field, Coach Flo is teaching 3rdgrade in the Bellevue School District.

Stephanie is a graduate of Seattle University where she was a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse program (WCLA II). Kelly "Coach Nakata" is Mercer Island alumni and has been the goalie coach with the program since 2009. Kelly first started her lacrosse career in 8th grade at Mercer Island Middle School and she graduated from Mercer Island High School in 2004. She has coached at MI alongside her former coaches, teammates and now has the privilege to work alongside former players.

Natalie Brust is a Lino Lakes, MN native and 2017 graduate of the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina. During her time at Mount Olive she played four years of Division II, NCAA lacrosse, specializing in defense. She has coached at the high school and middle school levels, including a year as the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Centennial High School in MN. Natalie is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and is very excited to start coaching on the west coast after just moving to the Seattle area!

Dulce is a Mercer Island High School alumnus and a graduate of The University of Redlands. During her time at Redlands, she played four years of lacrosse at the NCAA DIII level. Dulce was named captain her senior year and broke the Bulldog record for Career Assists during her four years of playing and also ranked fifth in all-time points. Currently, she coaches in the MI youth program in addition to Seattle Starz, under director Lyndsey Gillis. Dulce is passionate about educating girls in the game of lacrosse and sharing her love for the sport.
